To improve public’s awareness of eye diseases, the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong jointly launched our public education event with Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society since 2003. During these activities, we clarify any misconceptions of eye health and encourage healthy habits. We inform the public on the latest advances in treatment and reach out to different community so that they can have access to quality eye examinations. We identify different eye diseases each year and organize talks and screenings. In addition to public education event, we give interviews and write columns in newspapers to promote better community eye health. We strongly believe that it is very important for us to promote eye diseases prevention and increase the general public’s understanding of eye care. These activities serve as bridges for us to connect to the community for a healthier and brighter Hong Kong.
